About the artist

Hauntopolis, which arises from Talavera’s deep concern for a world on the verge of collapse, alludes to the question of the spectral or ghostly, that which haunts and surrounds our society but far from catastrophism or fear, facing reality with lucidity, optimism and a critical spirit. From drawing and painting to video and sound, drawing on the influence of classical painters such as Brueghel, Bosch, Friederich and Hiroshige, his work is marked by a permanent attention to ecological and climatic issues; in short, the phenomenon that various authors refer to as the anthropocene crisis.

Graduated in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid, with a final year at the Camberwell College of Arts in London, his work has been exhibited individually and collectively in various institutions including the Museum of Contemporary Art Gas Natural Fenosa in A Coruña, La Casa Encendida and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid, Instituto Cervantes in Chicago, Freires Museum in Berlin, and contemporary art fairs such as Pinta London, FNB Joburg Art Fair South Africa, Arte Santander and Just Madrid.
