Fernando Suarez

Fernando Suárez

Represented artist

Fernando Suarez is an immensely versatile sculptor. His formation, his control of the environment and his tireless creative capacity allow him to explore different paths that sometimes, can even end up being complementary to one another.

He works mainly with iron and bronze, but what´s surprising, is his ability to use multiple resources to diversify his production. Fernando investigates the use of materials such as resin, he plays with the multiplying effect of the mirrors or he exploits all the options that the spatial placement offers him.

All this incessant research is done to satisfy his obsession with movement and weightlessness. Above all, Fernando is interested in human beings, and he can go in depth into their psyche as well as into the most varied formal solutions.

He uses the model of a strong, robust, muscular man, forced to the most extreme limits. An active, restless individual subjected to tests which he must overcome by jumping, climbing, running, fighting or by finding his balance in a continuous equilibrium game.

Fernando Suarez has mastered the skill of capturing the eurhythmics, the gesture, the precise instant and freezing an image, and at the same time he studies its dynamic potential.

His man is an organic one but whose muscles are made of metal layers, and therefore he is also a hybrid, a machine man, frequently immersed in a futuristic suggestive sphere.

Furthermore, he studies the individual as a creator, as a vehicle, gadget inventor, as a being that transforms his surroundings. This way we see bridges emerge, architectural structures and singular buildings.

From exotic pieces that evoke far away milieus to ordinary apartment buildings in construction or destroyed by fire, urban crowds or the ironic circulatory chaos shown in an infinite absurd circle.

An entire constructivist and structural aspect, frequently complex, which allows the artist to explore new and rich sculptural possibilities.
