Lograr que la obra se deba sólo a sí misma es un viejo ideal del arte moderno: cortar las amarras que la vinculan con la realidad natural y dejarla valer, toda ella contenida en sus límites puros.

 

Retomar esta pretensión venerable sin in­currir en la abstracción y, además, hacerlo desde el medio fotográfico parece casi un imposible. Pero Patrik Grijalvo ha encon­trado la manera de apuntalar la autono­mía de sus imágenes, debilitando su vín­culo con el referente real –sin perderlo– y reivindicando su condición de objeto.

 

En sus manos devienen esculturas: piezas de un volumen delicado y sutil, logrado por una serena composición de planos. El resul­tado, lejos de ser caprichoso o redundante, transmite una armoniosa sensación de ne­cesidad.

 

El artista no impone a las imáge­nes una forma tridimensional cualquiera, a su capricho, sino que la construye a partir de los atributos propios de la superficie fotográfica. Una de las peculiaridades de la fotografía es el enfoque, que obliga a discriminar zonas de nitidez variable y, por tanto, a marcar los diversos planos de pro­fundidad.

 

Las obras de Patrik Grijalvo forman parte de múltiples colecciones de arte como por ejemplo: Het Wilde Weten- Rotterdam, Fundación Bilbao Arte – Bilbao, Fundación Athletic Club Fundazioa, Diputación Foral de Bizkaia, España, entre otras fundaciones privadas alrededor del mundo.
