In the series ‘Vistas’, Stefan Peters uses colour gradients on carefully smoothed wooden panels to construct imaginary landscapes that oscillate between the utopian and the dystopian. There, increasingly autonomous brushstrokes interrupt the perfect gradient and suggest mountains, plains, or forests shrouded in mist, illuminated by rays of sunlight that spark the imagination. From certain perspectives, the world unfolds as if seen from the air: a mosaic of meadows and coastlines that invites silent contemplation, the intimate possibility of finding, for a moment, a private paradise.
