24! QUESTIONS FOR THE SPECIFIC PRESENT a collective organized by the MKI.

From March 23 to September 22, in collaboration with the Museum im Kulturspeicher ( MiK ) in Würzburg and the Museum of Concrete Art ( MKK ) in Ingolstadt.

"¡24! Questions for the Concrete Present" is a cooperation between the Museum im Kulturspeicher ( MiK ) in Würzburg and the Museum for Concrete Art ( MKK ) in Ingolstadt. Both houses house large and important collections of constructive-concrete art works from Europe, which they now intend to unite on the occasion of Theo van Doesburg (1883-1931). This Danish artist and theorist is known for defining his own works with the term concrete art for the first time in 1924 and used it for his own works. A century later, despite all the uncertainty, this anniversary offers a fitting opportunity for these artists born in the 1980s to question the stylistic effect of concrete art on their work. There are a total of 24 artists exhibited between the two institutions; specifically the works of Carsten Beck can be seen at MIK, until September 22, 2024.
The works of the selected artists themselves are intended to answer some of the questions posed to them: Which artist of this current do I like the most? Has concrete art been relevant only at a formative level or has it influenced my way of conceiving art? Are the principles of concrete art, based mainly on design precision and geometric foundations, still valid? What new forms of expression are artists creating and what effect does this have on our perception?
You can find Carsten Beck's work available in the gallery's online store.
